Please be extremely careful with email attachments and web searching. CryptoLocker runs in the background for sometimes days while it silently encrypts all of your valuable documents, pictures and other media files. Backups that utilize locally mapped drives get corrupted too. Also, if you have lots of data and you wait, you could be backing up and overwriting good backups with bad. Antivirus software doesn’t always protect you… we’ve seen it firsthand. Question all attachments and be careful.
The infections we’ve seen have been mostly email attachments claiming to the recipient that they missed a delivery. DON’T FALL FOR IT!
Make certain your systems are patched and up to date, make certain your antivirus uses “behavior blocking” and/or “white-list” program protection. These are some of the latest antivirus protection technologies that will help keep you safe. And as always, don’t wait to call if/when you need us or have questions.
Be careful and again call/write us if you need anything ~Todd
