We are seeing big increases in email scams and scams where people call on the telephone (land-line and/or mobile) pretending to be someone they are not.
The email scam usually claims to be USPS, UPS or FEDEX. They realize everyone wants a delivery…. and it’s tempting to click the email link when you think you might be missing a delivery. All legit deliveries can be tracked by you on their official websites and you should only go to those respective sites for that information.
The phone calls usually claim to be from Microsoft or Windows Security. Microsoft will NEVER call you out of the blue even if you computer has security issues. It just doesn’t EVER happen. You can safely hang up on these clowns or tell them you’re turning them into the the authorities
Both of these types of fraud are dangerous and the crooks can launch naughty software if you click their links or let them into your computer. The worst are the encryption/ransom viruses that destroy data on local drives, network-attached drives and cost you big dollars!
